Special gear units include all those gearbox solutions supplied by Katsa that are not manufactured in series for ongoing deliveries. The special gear units may also refer to a single unit or a few units made specifically for a particular customer project. In Special Gear applications Katsa´s engineering can combine all gearbox types: cylindrical, conical, planetary, bevel, worm and combinations of all these construction.

Typical special gear units include, for example, test equipment gearboxes, customized special gear units or gearboxes that are designed especially for a particular project. Prototype gearboxes are an important part of special gear unit.

However, the actual design, manufacturing and assembly of these special gear units are similar compared to any other gearbox development. A special gear unit solution offered by Katsa has often proven to be less expensive than the modification of a serial-production solution would have been.
