Quality

For over 60 years, Katsa has delivered uncompromised quality to its customers. Quality is guaranteed by modern machinery, dedicated facilities, advanced software for gear calculations and highly educated personnel.
Katsa uses quality raw materials sourced from audited suppliers. The quality of suppliers is controlled by regular audits and incoming inspections. As part of in-house heat treatment, Katsa has a quality control laboratory that samples and inspects each heat treatment batch. Gear components are finished in an air conditioned isothermal production facilities. CNC gear measuring machines and barkhausen measuring equipment are used for quality control. Katsa also employs EN473 NDT Level 2 certified inspectors to conduct Magnetic Particle Inspections (MT), Ultrasonic Inspections (UT) and Liquid Penetrant Inspections (PT).
Katsa automatically offers 100% traceability in terms of material, process data, heat treatment and measurements for all gear components. Traceability is based on an individual serial number which is stamped on each gear component. Automated traceability is also offered for gearboxes supplied by Katsa. The quality of Katsa gear units is assured by means of factory test runs.
Since 1993, Katsa has had an ISO9001 Quality Management System certified by Det Norske Veritas. For over 10 years, Katsa has had ISO14001 certification for its Environmental Management System and ISO45001 certification for the Health and Safety Management System. Additionally, Katsa has been audited by several international power transmission customers. Katsa uses the Six Sigma approach to improve its operations and quality.
