Katsa Oy is participating ArTEco consortium since early 2015. In the three year program Katsa will product develop three new gearboxes with arctic condition capabilities.

In the program Katsa has until now carried out a candidate thesis in co-operation with Tampere University of Technology and two Master’s thesis with students from Oulu University and Tampere University of Technology. The third Master’s thesis agreement (Tampere University of Technology) has been made starting in the beginning of September.

The first outcome of the projects will be introduced at SMM exhibition in Hamburg in the following week 6.-9.9.2016. Escort Winch drive LPL648 is a specialized winch gearbox utilizing latest permanent magnet motor technology. Demanding dynamic applications like escort winches are perfect applications for utilizing the advantages of the new technologies. Combining a modern PM motor with a two speed gearbox offers a broad range of very high torques at low speed up to very high speeds for quick rope recovery.
