Marine Propulsion Magazine: Gearboxes for hybrid propulsion

 

Katsa launched the first Marine Hybrid Gearbox solution in 2018 at SMM-exhibition, Hamburg.

First applications were based on Katsa´s versatile L350 Gearbox series. In 2020 Katsa also launched the bigger version L490 with similar technical configurations as L350.

 

The L350 has a power range of 200-1.000 kW and the L490 range spans 1.000-2.500 kW. Both gearboxes are compact, independent standalone units including a wet-running multiplate clutch for disengaging the Diesel-engine for full electric sailing.

 

The same modular gearboxes also fit perfectly as Thruster Clutches and from this field Katsa has experience of successful delivery of several projects.
